San Francisco 49ers expecting tough fight against Seattle Seahawks – NFL News
After being defeated by defending Super Bowl champion New York Giants in Week 6 game, San Francisco 49ers have shifted their focus to the upcoming game against National Football Conference (NFC) West opponent Seattle Seahawks.
Both teams have a short weekend ahead as the game will be played on Thursday, October 18.
Seahawks have won four games this season and are on a two-game winning streak with the recent victories coming against Carolina Panthers (16-12) and New England Patriots (24-23).
NFC West is witnessing a strong competition between all its teams and 49ers, Seahawks and Arizona Cardinals have so far proven to be playoff teams.
All the three teams are tied atop the division at 4-2 each. St. Louis Rams are placed behind them with 3-3.
If 49ers had beaten the Giants, they would have taken lead in NFC West. However, that did not happen and Thursday’s game might determine a division leader after Week 7.
49ers’ two defeats in this season have come in a surprising manner as they were completely rattled by their opponents. First, they were defeated by Minnesota Vikings in Week 3 game and then by Giants last Sunday.
As they now prepare to face Seahawks, they are expecting a tough competition. Seahawks have registered surprising victories this season and keeping Seahawks’ this season’s performance in mind, it cannot be denied that they can defeat 49ers as well.
49ers are also aware of the challenge Seahawks will give them and hoping to counter the threat by performing well on the field. According to the details present on the team’s website, 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh said of Seahawks:
“Good football team. Tough football team. It will be a real football fight Thursday night. We’ll anticipate that and prepare for them. They’re very good, very good football team in all phases. They play hard, they play fast. Very competitive defensively,
again really good up front. They set a high pace. They set the tone with their defensive line. Linebackers are rangy, athletic, fast. Outstanding safeties, two corners are playing extremely well. So, multiple challenges. Really good football team.”
According to Harbaugh, there is only one thing that can help the team get over the loss against Giants. He said:
“The only antidote for what ails you right now is a victory.”
