San Francisco 49ers gearing up for Arizona Cardinals – NFL News
The Arizona Cardinals are among the worst teams of this National Football League (NFL) season. After making an incredible 4-0 start, they have lost 10 out of their next 11 games. The Cards do not have much at stake as they prepare for their Week 17 game
against San Francisco 49ers, but if they win it they can certainly hurt their opponents bad.
The 49ers, who have already qualified for the playoffs, can clinch the National Football Conference (NFC) West title, for second time in a row. The 49ers could have come in a solid position last week but for their loss against the Seattle Seahawks, who would
be the division leaders if 49ers do not get the title.
By the looks of the things, the 49ers will not have much trouble securing the title, given the Cardinals’ record in the season is pretty pathetic. However, it must not be ruled out that this will be a pressure game and anything is possible.
The Cards could come up with an entirely new scheme, something they have not tried yet, or could get their form back, something that they showed during the first four games of the season.
These are the factors that are keeping the 49ers on their toes and they are not getting complacent as they prepare for the regular season finale to be played this Sunday.
According to the details present on the 49ers’ website, head coach Jim Harbaugh talked to the media recently about the team’s preparation for the Cardinals game and said of the opponents:
“They’re all professionals. We’ve played against this team three times. We know what they’re capable of. Sometimes in a game like this, anything goes. And their mindset will be to win the game.”
Harbaugh continued:
“So, you have to be ready. You have to be alert for just about anything. Could be a new quarterback, could be a new offensive system. Anything’s possible.”
The 49ers have won 10 games this season, while losing four and tying one. They faced the Cardinals earlier in the season (in Week 8), and easily won that game.
