San Francisco 49ers’ head coach Jim Harbaugh: Randy Moss to join the team on April 30 – NFL News
San Francisco 49ers’ head coach, Jim Harbaugh, seems unbothered by the absence of wide receiver, Randy Moss, from the team’ voluntary workout programme and informed on Wednesday, April 18, 2012, that the player will report to the team on April 30.
Moss, who has been given an opportunity to continue his National Football League (NFL) career by the 49ers, was expected to be present in the workouts as per his contract with the team.
However, it seems that his absence is with the consent of the team management, which is expecting him to report to the team at the end of this month.
When asked about the player’s absence, Harbaugh said:
"Randy and I talked when he was here and when we signed him about exactly what the offseason was going to look like. We detailed it out. I know exactly when Randy is going to be here. He knows exactly when he's going to be here. He'll be here in 12 days from now. He'll be here on April 30.”
Moss, a 13-year veteran, announced his retirement after the 2010 season, which he played for Tennessee Titans. Later, he took his retirement decision back and was given a one-year contract by 49ers. Moss missed the complete 2011 season.
Moss’ absence has not surprised anyone as 49ers’ general manager, Trent Baalke, has also said that the player was expected to report late to the team.
The general manager also said that all the matters were decided with the player when both parties agreed to sign the contract.
Meanwhile, Harbaugh said that Moss will report to the team and join the players for the on-the-field workout in the days to come while attending all the team meetings.
Harbaugh said:
"He's got family back there in West Virginia, and kids to take care of, and I understand that. He can work out there just as easy as he can work out here over these two weeks. He'll be here for the football schools and meetings and on-the-field work."
Moss has not played as regular starter since 2009 when he was playing for the New England Patriots. He will certainly have to work out hard to stay in proper shape before the start of the next regular season.
