San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh appreciates St. Louis Rams defence – NFL News
San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh has appreciated defensive strength of the St. Louis Rams, who were recently placed at the bottom of National Football Conference (NFC) West and managed to tie a game against the division leaders.
49ers and Rams played a tie in Week 10 game during which the Rams defence did not allow the 49ers to score even a single point in the first and third quarter.
49ers’ late surged tied the score in regulation, but both teams failed to score in overtime by missing an opportunity each and hence the game ended in a tie.
Both these sides are now going to face each other this Sunday and both are hoping to get a win. A win for the 49ers will further strengthen their lead and hence they will have a chance to enter the postseason as a better seeded team.
A win for the Rams will improve their record and help them retain a relatively better position in the division. At present, Arizona Cardinals’ slump has allowed the Rams to be at third spot in NFC West. The Rams have four wins to their name (better than
their last season’s 2-14 record) and if they can pull off a few more victories it will be job well done for them at the end of the regular season.
The Rams will rely on their defensive strength against San Francisco, especially when it comes to controlling the 49ers’ pass rush. The Rams are very talented and that is why Harbaugh has praised it.
Talking to the media on Wednesday, the 49ers head coach said when asked about challenges the Rams could pose to his team:
“Well, the Rams, it’s a very challenging team defensively. You can say the strength is the defensive line, and it is a strength.”
Harbaugh continued:
“But, the secondary is playing extremely well. The two corners are outstanding. The linebackers, they run and they’re physical. And some of those same issues that we had the first time we played them, we’re going to have to prepare for again. It’s an outstanding
defensive team.”
