San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh appreciates WR Randy Moss – NFL News
Veteran wide receiver Randy Moss, who has made his National Football League (NFL) return this year by joining San Francisco 49ers, has not been in the limelight of late.
Towards the start of the season, he caught the media attention, but as the season progressed, the overall performance of the team and rise of some other players overshadowed the hype Moss’ return had created.
However, that does not mean that Moss has lost his value. He is yet to get a large number of receptions and a lot of playing time, but 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh has complete faith in the receiver’s abilities.
According to the details present on the team’s website, Harbaugh said of Moss:
“Randy Moss has been just great. A lot of people talk about the past or whatever, I’ve seen nothing other than a guy that just works hard and wants to contribute and practices, just says and does all the right things. If there was something in the past it’d be like that etch-a-sketch you have a as a kid and you lift that piece of paper up. It’s been nothing but great, nothing but good.”
This season, Moss has only received nine catches for 99 yards and scored one touchdown. However, Harbaugh is of the view that the veteran is able to give striking performance anytime.
The 49ers head coach has also said that Moss has the ability to showcase effective performances to lead the team to victories. Harbaugh said:
“Just a matter of time before you get the big catch day that everybody seems to only pin their evaluation on. But, he’s been excellent.”
Moss’ addition in the team and selection of some other players were aimed at strengthening 49ers offence.
The offence has indeed performed well, especially during the last two games in which the defence was also superb.
49ers defeated New York Jets 34-0 in Week 4 game, while they outclassed Buffalo Bills, 45-3 in Week 5 game.
Such performances have increased competition for Moss, who has been utilised rather carefully by the team and most of the playing time is shared among young receivers.
