San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh appreciates quarterback Colin Kaepernick – NFL News
Back in Week 10 game when San Francisco 49ers quarterback Alex Smith suffered concussion against St. Louis Rams, fans were disappointed and a bit scared because Smith had been phenomenal since the last season.
He was replaced by backup quarterback Colin Kaepernick in the game that ended in a tie. In Week 11, while Smith was still recovering, Kaepernick got an opportunity to start against the Chicago Bears, who were in a thundering form. However, Kaepernick was
remarkable and helped his side to a victory.
The 49ers were so impressed with the backup quarterback’s performance that even though Smith was cleared to play Week 12 game against New Orleans Saints they decided to go with Kaepernick.
Kaepernick did not disappoint his team and scored a passing as well as rushing touchdown as his team got another victory, strengthening its position in National Football Conference (NFC) West.
49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh has expressed appreciation for Kaepernick, saying that he has done well to lead the offence in Smith’s absence.
Harbaugh said after defeat Saints:
“Colin played well and in a tough environment he acquitted himself very well.”
Speaking of the changes the team had to make while preparing the quarterback for the game against Saints, Harbaugh added:
“The biggest adjustment we made was just getting back into the huddle faster. As far as preparing for it, I thought he did a great job with managing the game, calling the game and moving the team in and out of the huddle. We were a little slow getting back
to the huddle and I think that adjustment really helped us in speeding up the tempo.”
The 49ers head coach further praised the quarterback and commented:
“He can cover ground real fast and he has an eye for making the read. He came with that ability.”
49ers have now played five straight games without getting defeated. Before Week 10 game against Rams, they had won two straight games, while they have won two more after the Rams game that ended in a tie.
Now they are going to face the Rams again, hoping to get a win this time. It is not clear if Kaepernick will be retained as starter for the next game.
