San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh reflects on victory over New England Patriots – NFL News
San Francisco 49ers’ recent win over New England Patriots has earned them a playoff spot, for the second time in a row, and head coach Jim Harbaugh is delighted to see the team living up to the expectations.
The game against the Patriots was particularly important for both teams as it tested the mettle of two of the best teams in the league.
Although the 49ers won the game, the Pats did have their moments in the game, especially during the final quarter in which they staged a stunning comeback.
By the end of the third quarter, 49ers were leading the game at 31-10. In the final quarter, however, things started turning around for the Pats.
The Patriots scored three touchdowns in just 10 minutes to tie the score at 31-31. However, 49ers managed to get some scoring points later and even though the Pats scored a field goal in the end they could not outscore the 49ers.
When Harbaugh was asked to share his views on the Pats’ late surge in the game, the 49ers head coach said, via 49ers’ website:
“Well, when you really look at it, for the two and half quarters of football – whatever word you want to use, but it was pretty darn good defensively for us. And then the last five minutes of the game, the last two stops, two fourth quarter stops, very impressive
by our defence.”
Harbaugh added:
“During the span where they were moving the football and scoring the points, we had our chances. We had our chances to get off the field, a couple plays in particular where we should have gotten off the field. It’s a very good offence and they were making
plays as well.”
49ers are still leading National Football Conference (NFC) West, though the lead could be taken away. They are going to take on the Seattle Seahawks next week. Seahawks are in thundering form and are just a win behind the 49ers in the division. The Seahawks
also have a chance to qualify for the playoffs, and they can even threat the 49ers’ lead in NFC West.
