San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh shares his thoughts on Week 2 game – NFL News
San Francisco 49ers have made an impressive and aggressive start to the 2012 season. They defeated the dangerous Green Bay Packers in the season opener and dominated the ferocious Detroit Lions in Week 2 game.
Their wins have come due to team effort and sound planning on part of their coaches, who, too, are proud of the team’s success so far.
Although the road is still pretty long for the 49ers as they have 14 more regular season games to play to ensure their entry in the playoffs, there is no denying that so far they are among the best units of the league.
49ers were expecting a physical matchup against Lions and they had prepared well to face the Lions defence. After the win, 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh praised the team for such a sturdy performance and appreciated every member of the team.
According to the details present on the team’s website, he said:
“The way our guys played, the toughness, the finish, the blocking, the tackling. Those critical things that you need to win a tough, bell-ringing game like this, we were able to get done. And a lot of people to point out.”
That being noted, Harbaugh also pointed out areas for improvement for both offence and defence and hoped that the players would overcome the errors in next game.
Meanwhile, he also shared his views about quarterback Alex Smith, who had a breakout season last year and continues to perform even better this season.
Smith’s accuracy has been commendable as he has been able to send a large number of passes without throwing any interception. Moreover, he reads the game well and has shown consistent improvement in his technique.
Harbaugh said of Smith:
“He’s just intellectually matured. He’s got a lot to work with because he’s a really intelligent guy. But, just the way he works at it. He’ll be up in the building until 7, 8, 9’oclock at night and constantly grinding on the mental part of the game.”
After winning their first two games of the season, 49ers are now going to face Minnesota Vikings for Week 3 game on Sunday, September 23.
