San Francisco 49ers’ linebacker Aldon Smith stabbed during a party – NFL News
In his rookie season, San Francisco 49ers’ linebacker Aldon Smith got considerable amount of attention.
Throughout the season, Smith was good on the field, but was far worse outside. He is again in the spotlight for deplorable reasons.
It has been reported that Smith suffered stab wounds during a party on Friday, June 29, 2012. He was present in a large house party attended by about 100 people.
After receiving calls about shots being fired, deputies from the Sheriff’s office arrived at the residence at around two in the morning. When deputies arrived, they found three injured people.
Among the injured, two were shot while one was stabbed. Although the Sheriff’s department did not confirm the names, it has been reported that Smith is the person who was stabbed.
With huge number of people attending the party, deputies asked for backup. Officials from San Jose police and California Highway Patrol quickly responded to the scene.
Currently, police have no suspects. While talking to The Sacramento Bee, one of the sergeants from the California Highway Patrol sergeant Jose Cardoza said:
"It was a chaotic scene. There was a lot of commotion, and no one knows where the gunshots came from."
All three injured were shifted to hospital, where they were reported to be out of critical condition. It has been reported that Smith has a house in that neighbourhood.
The 49ers issued statement the next day about the incident, which said:
"(We) are aware that Aldon Smith incurred minor injuries during an incident last night. We are in contact with Aldon and thankful that his injuries were not more serious and that he is recovering comfortably. The 49ers are also in communication
with local authorities as they gather information regarding the incident, and will reserve further comment at this time."
Previously, Smith was arrested in January for drunk driving around Miami Beach area.
Smith is coming from an astonishing rookie season. He was drafted as the seventh overall pick in 2011.
