San Francisco 49ers’ offensive coordinator Greg Roman likes players’ work ethic – NFL News
San Francisco 49ers’ offensive coordinator, Greg Roman, has said that he is impressed with the work ethic of his players who are participating in the organised team activities (OTAs) these days.
While giving an interview to the KNBR Morning Show, on Wednesday, May 16, 2012, Roman discussed the team’s offseason plans and shared a few observations about the new players who joined the team during the offseason and 2012 National Football League
(NFL) draft.
As he was discussing the players’ schedule, Roman said that all of them are allowed to be in the team’s facility where they could watch films or undergo any medical treatment, if necessary.
The offensive coordinator also informed that the players also work out under the supervision of the team’s trainers. After that, Roman said, the players are called for team meetings which are often followed by on-field workouts and light training.
According to the details present on the team’s official website, Roman likes the way the players are approaching the OTAs. He said:
“Guys are really pushing each other to get better at what they do.”
Roman added:
“Guys are really taking advantage of it. It’s our first offseason here and it’s great to have this time with the players.”
Last year, 49ers’ performed well on defence as well as offence, but the latter still needed some improvement.
In order to address the offensive needs, 49ers signed a few players including wide receivers, Randy Moss and Mario Manningham, off the free agency. They also selected another receiver, A.J. Jenkins, in first round of the draft.
When asked about what he thought of those acquisitions, Roman said that the management did a fine job to add strength to the offence.
He also appreciated the performance of Moss, who is coming into the NFL after missing the last season. Roman said of Moss:
“I’m starting to see what a smart football player he is. Love the energy that he brings. So far I think he’s done a marvellous job.”
While commenting on Jenkins’ performance, Roman said that the rookie still needed some time to adjust into the system.
He said:
“I don’t think he’s overwhelmed, I think he’s looking at this like it’s a chance to be around successful players. I’m sure those guys will take him under their wings and try to elevate his game.”
