San Francisco 49ers quarterback Alex Smith turns his attention to Seattle Seahawks – NFL News
After his worst game of the season in Week 6 against New York Giants, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Alex Smith has turned his focus entirely to Week 7 game against Seattle Seahawks, instead of mourning the defeat against the defending champion.
Smith sent three interceptions against Giants and was sacked four times. He did not send any touchdown pass and finished the game 19 of 30 for 200 yards.
This kind of performance is highly unexpected from Smith. Although the quarterback is not renowned for covering huge yards during his playing drives like Tom Brady, Eli Manning, Drew Brees or Ben Roethlisberger, interceptions and inaccuracy are not the traits
that define Smith.
He knows he made some errors, but the quarterback does not see any point in mourning the loss against Giants. Instead, Smith has shifted his focus to Week 7 game against Seattle Seahawks, who are also in top form.
Their Week 7 game will be played on Thursday and the short duration has somewhat helped Smith’s cause of taking his mind off the Giants’ game. According to the details present on the team’s website, he said:
“Consciously, obviously putting this one away quick with the quick turnaround Thursday. After a loss like that, yeah in some ways it’s nice because you can’t dwell on it, even as a team. You’ve just got to move on.”
Smith regretted throwing interceptions and said:
“I really feel like we gave our defence a short field. For me, the two interceptions late were the ones I thought about the most. It’s third down and you’re trying to make a play, but you’re just making matters worse. You really got to see the bigger picture
there, make good decisions on both those cases. That’s what I was really kicking myself for.”
It was the first time in two years that Smith had sent more than two interceptions in a game. This goes to show that the player is very efficient when it comes to passing the ball.
It is in the interest of the player and the team that he forgets the woeful performance against Giants and tries to find his rhythm to showcase better performance against Seahawks.
