San Francisco 49ers’ running back, Brandon Jacobs explains reasons for joining the team – NFL News
San Francisco 49ers’ running back, Brandon Jacobs, who has recently joined the team after parting ways with the last season’s Super Bowl champions, New York Giants, has said that the 49ers made the best offer to him and that he has always loved this team.
While explaining the reasons behind his decision to join the 49ers, Jacobs said that he grew up as a fan of San Francisco 49ers. When it came to joining any other team, he said, 49ers had the best offer for him.
He said:
“Not only did they have the best offer for me — I think that’s a special group of guys in that locker room, and coaches and the whole organisation. And I grew up a 49er fan and I’ve loved the 49ers always. So it’s a good opportunity for me to put a dream
to sleep.”
Jacobs has been playing with the Giants since starting his professional National Football League (NFL) career in 2005. He played seven seasons with them before joining the 49ers.
One of the main reasons behind Jacobs’ decision to leave the Giants was the pay cut that the team management had offered him. In the first place, Jacobs, too, wanted to extend his association with the team, but the value of the new deal was not acceptable
to him.
Apparently, 49ers came out with the best offer and took him on board.
Jacobs is still unaware of what duties he will be performing with 49ers. He is expected to serve as backup for Frank Gore, who is the team’s leading rusher.
However, he seems satisfied with any role the management gives to him and said that he wants to give his best shot.
He commented:
“I have not spoke to anyone about my role. I just, I’m going there, earning everything they give me and I guess whatever I don’t get I didn’t earn, right? My goal is to go out there and give it all I’ve got and be able to come and be able to be a big part
of this football team.”
While commenting on 49ers’ defence, Jacobs said that the team has one of the sturdiest defences in the league and it will be hard to stop it in the next season.
