San Francisco 49ers running back Brandon Jacobs clarifies his stance – NFL News
A day earlier, San Francisco 49ers running back Brandon Jacobs expressed frustration over not being allowed to take the field, despite considering that he was fit enough to play.
The remarks were somewhat surprising as Jacobs had been sidelined by 49ers since the start of the season.
The player’s frustration showed that he had some reservations over the team’s decision to sideline him, which itself could have further developed into a controversy.
However, the player has clarified his stance, saying that he has “ironed things out” with head coach Jim Harbaugh.
The Santa Rosa Press-Democrat quoted Bradshaw as saying:
“I spoke to Coach Harbaugh a couple times the last couple days. We ironed it out. We got it done. I understand where Coach is coming from. He understands me from him playing football and understanding an athlete, and the competitive nature of wanting to
help your team win.”
49ers have marinated a decent record so far this season, but Jacobs has been unfortunate not to contribute in any of his team’s victories.
The former New York Giants running back joined the 49ers this year knowing that his role would be somewhat limited with the new organisation. Since San Francisco already has a couple of good and experienced running backs, Jacobs’ role in the squad was supposed
to be limited.
However, he has not even stepped on the field this season and this is enough to frustrate any player who has won a couple of National Football League (NFL) titles.
49ers will face Giants this weekend and Jacobs’ chances for the game are not yet confirmed. That team has not taken any action over the running back’s previous remarks and the player must consider it his good luck that his remarks have not hurt his prospects.
Jacobs has acknowledged that the team helped him earlier this year by keeping him on the roster knowing that he was injured. He said of the team’s decision to retain him:
“That says a lot for this organization. I’m going to take the opportunity that they’re giving me to get myself 100 percent so I can help this team when it gets down deep into the season in December, January and even February.”
