San Francisco 49ers’ running back Brandon Jacobs focused on self improvement – NFL News
San Francisco 49ers’ running back, Brandon Jacobs, has said that he is focusing on improving his performance and form at the moment and not worrying about anything else.
According to the details present on the team’s official website, Jacobs wants to completely understand the team’s playbook, know his teammates, develop good understanding and chemistry with them and spend time with his coaching staff as much as possible.
Jacobs started his professional National Football League (NFL) career with the New York Giants in 2005 and played seven seasons with them before joining the 49ers this year. He won two Super Bowl title with the Giants.
He was also a member of last season’s Super Bowl winning squad, but he deliberately missed the ceremony on Wednesday, May 16, 2012, during which the winners were given their Super Bowl winning rings.
Jacobs did not want to affect his practice sessions and this prevented him from joining the ceremony. His wife collected the ring on his behalf.
He acknowledged the fact that he was fortunate enough to win two Super Bowl rings with the Giants and said that he also wants to win the ring with his new team.
Jacobs said:
“I think winning a championship is important, not many people have one and not many people have had a chance to play in a Super Bowl. I respect that, but right now, I’m working towards the same goal with a new team.”
Jacobs termed the workouts with the 49ers ‘a championship workout’ and said that such trainings and practices are helping him become more familiar with the playing conditions with his new team.
He said:
“You do championship work with a championship team and everything is championship. You work one game at a time at a championship level, you practice every day at a championship level, one practice at a time and you get through it.”
According to Jacobs, he is trying to rebuild his career with the 49ers by learning an entirely different offence.
Meanwhile, Jacobs also commented on his relationship with Mario Manningham, who has also joined the 49ers after leaving the Giants this year.
He informed that he keeps in contact with Mario on daily basis and that both are enjoying working out with the new team.
