San Francisco 49ers’ running back Frank Gore: I can still play at a high level – NFL News
San Francisco 49ers’ running back, Frank Gore, who is the franchise’s all-time leading rusher, has said that he has got ‘a lot left’ within him and that he would continue playing in the National Football League (NFL) as long as he stays fit and healthy.
Gore set up reached the milestone of becoming the franchise’s leading rusher during the 2011 season, which was his seventh with the team. He has not played for any other franchise since starting his professional NFL career in 2005.
Gore is training with his other teammates in 49ers’ strength workout and the running back seems to be enjoying the training.
In an interview to the team’s official website, Gore said that he was not contemplating retirement and that he is going to continue playing in the league as long as he is fit.
He said:
“I feel like I still got a lot left in my tank. I want to show it off that I still got a lot left in my tank and I can play at a high level. I will play at a high level as long as God blesses me to be healthy so I can go out and do something that I love.”
49ers have recently signed former New York Giants running back, Brandon Jacobs, who was a part of last year’s Super Bowl winning squad.
49ers competed against Giants twice in the last season, and Gore was certainly impressed with Jacobs’ performance. Now that Jacobs has joined 49ers, Gore was pleased on the development.
While appreciating Jacobs’ talent and skills, Gore said:
“It was good seeing a guy who came out with me now on the same team. He’s a good dude and he’s a very smart player. You can see that he’s picking up the offense. I look forward to training camp where we’re going to see more.”
49ers were brilliant throughout the last season. They were able to qualify for the playoffs after a long time, and lost the National Football Conference (NFC) championship game against Giants, but their overall performance received applause from every critic.
Gore is hoping to repeat the same performance in the upcoming season and wants to clinch the NFC title this time to get a shot at the Super Bowl title.
