San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Mario Manningham listed out due to injury – NFL News
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Mario Manningham tore his ACL and PCL on Sunday during Week 16 game against Seattle Seahawks.
On Tuesday, 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh listed Manningham out for the next game against Arizona Cardinals.
Seahawks linebacker Leroy Hill tackled Manningham in the third quarter of the game, and severe pain forced him to left the ground.
According to 49ers website, the head coach expects Manningham will return in the season, considering him going through MRI.
Harbaugh said of Manningham:
“Yeah, he’ll be evaluated today and further tests.”
Manningham has performed well this season. He has 42 receptions for 449 yards and scored a touchdown.
At the moment 49ers have increased injury issues after their 13-42 loss against their National Football Conference (NFC) West rivals Seahawks.
49ers have lost tight end Vernon Davis (concussion), defensive linemen Justin Smith (elbow), Will Tukuafu (back) and Demarcus Dobbs (right knee), running back Kendall Hunter (lower leg), wide receiver Kyle Williams (left knee) and linebacker Clark Haggans (shoulder).
If both Manningham and Williams will not play next game, the offence will face difficulties.
Harbaugh is hopeful that his team can make comeback in the final game of the regular season.
He said:
“Like we said last night, we didn’t do really enough good things. Only one thing you can do after a battle, win or lose, and that’s reorganize, refit and regroup. And that’s what we’ll do.”
The best thing a coach can do is to motivate his team in a critical situation, and Harbaugh came up with such statement in his press conference.
He said:
"I feel our team's leadership, I feel the intellect of the staff, I think the talent of the players, the work ethic of the players will pave the way,"
49ers are the leaders of NFC West and they have won 10, lost four and tied a game with St. Louis Rams in this season.
They have clinched a playoff berth, but their last defeat has taken Seahawks at 10-5 record. 49ers have to win the next game at any cost in order to sustain their leading position in the division.
