San Francisco Giants’ Carlos Beltran out of game due to injury – MLB News
The San Francisco Giants are unquestionably in trouble these days. Carlos Beltran had to leave the Sunday, August 7 game after he felt sharp pain on the top of his right hand. It was in the sixth inning that the right fielder felt uneasy.
While there might not have been enormous risk involved in playing, or otherwise, he and his team management decided to give him rest as the Giants have had a rather tough time lately to take on their rivals.
"I'm not going to worry about it, but I can't wait till tomorrow," Beltran said. "If I can swing the bat and compete, then I want to be out there. If not, I need to be safe."
The biggest setback that the Major League Baseball champion, the San Francisco Giants, faced was Zack Wheeler’s trade and the acquisition of Carlos Beltran from New York Mets. Since then, the team has only suffered, finding it increasingly hard to strengthen
the bull-pen.
Having lost eighth of last eleven games the San Francisco Giants have played, Zack Wheeler’s departure is already a too huge a hitch to now lose the right-fielder Carlos Beltran at this stage.
Having played a total of 11 games for the Giants ever since he was traded off, Beltran has scored only four runs for the team with 11 hits to his credit, having no home-runs scored with a .244 average.
While on the other hand, when the Giants decided to strike a deal with the New York Mets’ Beltran, he had played 98 games for the Mets in 2011, having scored 61 runs in 353 at-bats, of which 66 were RBIs and 15 home-runs, with a .289 average.
It was in the light of that magnificent and consistent performance for the Mets that the San Francisco Giants had decided to opt for trading the player, a decision that has yet to see a positive impact.
While the Giants have a lot to grapple with as the challenges rise, their losing 8 of last 11 games is the most unsettling prospect. This is something that the team intends to address on an urgent basis.
Their players will be looking to getting their form back and to start contributing. The slumping Giants now stand sixth in the MLB ranking with 63 wins to their credit, having lost 53 of them. While the Giants had started the season poorly, they managed
to make a comeback.
It is their resilience to bounce back that fills the fans with hope that the team will soon recover from this setback as well. Something that remains interesting to see as Carlos Beltran inches his way back to the team after the fitness problem.
