San Francisco Giants Melky Cabrera will get a full playoff share, states a media source
A media sources is stating loudly that San Francisco Giants centre fielder Melky Cabrera will get a full 2012 Major League Baseball playoff share despite his involvement in Performance Enhancing Drugs (PED) and the humiliating suspension.
A San Francisco based newspaper has recently published a presumption that Cabrera is eligible for post season bonus share. This source also stated that the Major League union has clauses that make Cabrera qualified for the share.
"He spent 117 games on the roster this season, and he stood to make 72.2 percent of a full share. But an obscure union rule mandates a full share if a player’s team plays 10 games after the suspended player is eligible to be reinstated. Cabrera was eligible
to come back for Game 1 of the NLCS. The Giants chose to keep him on the shelf, but the team also played 11 more playoff games. And that triggers a full share for Melky."
Cabrera could not finish the season on a high note after a spectacular run early in the regular season. His .346 hitting prowess guided him into All-Star Game and he won his first All Star Most Valuable Player (MVP) trophy.
Having played in the big league for past seven years and for four different MLB teams, Cabrera’s this season was one of his best but later when it was revealed that he cheated and used Performance Enhancing Drugs as the MLB authorities banned him for 50-games
and showed him the true picture of his misconduct.
Later all the San Francisco Giants fans, including the Giants management and players also called Cabrera’s act a destructive and painful for all the game lovers as well as the game’s dignity itself.
On the other hand, instead of giving him a harder penalty, the Major League establishment still has a clause that benefits the player financially if his team wins the World Series or play in the World Series.
In the meanwhile, other than his involvement in PED, many believe that Cabrera possesses some extraordinary hitting skills which still make him one of the most talented players in the league.
