San Francisco Giants all set to play in World Series finals – MLB Update
With an exceptional win over the St. Louis Cardinals’ in the decisive game of National League Championship Series, the San Francisco Giants are roaring ahead of their World Series Game 1 clash against the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday, October 24 at AT&T Park in San Francisco, California.
“I'll have to learn a lot about them real soon, to be honest, I know what a great club they are, we know all about the guy we're going to be facing Opening Day and their whole staff. They swept the Yankees -- that tells you how good they are. But it's similar to St. Louis. I mean, they have such a great lineup. We're going to need to pitch well. We know it," said skipper Bruce Bochy.
Later NLCS MVP Marco Scutaro said, “Momentum can change real quick, And I think when we won the last game in St. Louis, it seems like the ball started bouncing our way."
Giants’ entire team played very well on Monday in the final game of NLCS. All players felt their responsibility and performed with big energy. They rattled the Cardinals with great force and booked their place in the World Series finale.
While going into this big clash against the Detroit Tigers, the Giants have still to name the starter.
However, the Tigers will unleash current MVP Justin Verlander for this all important encounter. He is currently playing with 2.64 ERA along with 17-8 win-loss, 239 strike-outs and 1.06 WHIP. Experts believe that Verlander will be the difference if Tigers win this coming game.
On the other hand, the Giants have also some of the great pitchers in their rotation. They could bring in Barry Zito who played brilliantly in Game 5 of their previous series against the St. Louis Cardinals in which he pitched over seven innings spell and did not receive any run on six hits. He struck-out six while he remained consistent on the mound during his entire spell.
Giants’ have another option to test Ryan Vogelsong, who won the second game of the NLCS. He pitched seven innings in that particular match and allowed only one run on four hits.
