San Francisco Giants beat Milwaukee Brewers 6-4 – MLB Update
San Francisco Giants beat Milwaukee Brewers 6-4 at Miller Park in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Tuesday, May 22 in the second game of their three match series of the 2012 Major League Baseball regular season. With their win against the Brewers, the Giants also improved their record to 23-20.
Buster Posey, once again, played a key role in deciding the outcome of the clash. He hit a grounded rule double to deep centre in the first inning to help the Giants take 1-0 lead. It seems the striker is regaining stamina after he managed to play just 45 games last season due to an ankle injury.
Joaquin Arias also had a decent time on the plate, hitting a 406 feet home run in the fourth inning to help the Giants take 4-0. Posey continued to attack the bullpen and he hit his sixth home run of the season in an epic fashion.
The home run was his second in two days. He hit a three run homer in the opening game against the Brewers and it will be interesting to see if he can continue his excellent form in the finale to let the Giants sweep their rivals.
"That was a long game yesterday," said Posey. "To come back today and feel good is a good sign."
"His ankle's not a factor," Bochy said. "He did a nice job both behind the plate and swinging the bat. I was a little concerned today that it would be a little cranky, but it wasn't at all."
"It seemed like when he got in trouble, he really beared down and made some quality pitches," Posey said.
"We're just waiting for something to click," Milwaukee's Nyjer Morgan said. "Don't know when. That's the most frustrating thing about it."
The Giants had the better of their opponents in the opening game as well when they clinched a thrilling 4-3 win. With home conditions working in their favour, Milwaukee was expected to make a strong come back in the second game to level series. However, they failed to make the most of available opportunities and the Giants beat them for the second straight time.
