San Francisco Giants crush Cincinnati Reds 8-3 in Game 4 of NLDS – MLB Recap
San Francisco Giants crushed the Cincinnati Reds 8-3 in the fourth game of their five-match National League Divisional Series on Wednesday, October 10 at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati.
"I'd like to think that we still have the advantage, We're at home. I expect Mat to come up with a big game. I'm looking forward to it," Reds' outfielder Jay Bruce said on his team’s defeat.
"We feel good, When you're down 0-2, you see what you're made of. We're not done," NL batting champion Buster Posey also said on his team’s performance.
It was a big win for the Giants as they leveled the series 2-2 while the decisive game will be another thriller for the fans.
Barry Zito pitched 2.2 innings and received two runs and four hits along with one homer. He struck-out four while his ERA remained consistent at 6.75.
Zito played well and kept the Reds’ batters under pressure and eventually rattled them with big force.
From start of the game, Zito knew this game is very important for the Giants. If they played well, then they will have fair chance play the last game of the series which will also determine who goes into the next level of the postseason.
Having all these facts in mind, Zito pitched with great accuracy and in the end earned a great victory for the Giants.
“I knew he would play a huge role in this, And I know of other situations where starters have been in the 'pen and really done a great job to help their team win. We knew Timmy would play a critical role in the series like he did tonight," manager Bruce Bochy said.
Reliever Tim Lincecum also played well and showed his class. He pitched 4.1 innings and received only one run and two hits on his persistent 1.42 ERA.
He struck-out six and did not give any loop-holes in his short spell which eventually proved one of winning factors for the Giants who are now ready to face the Reds in the final game of the series.
