San Francisco Giants crush Houston Astros 5-1 – MLB Recap
The San Francisco Giants humiliated the Houston Astros 5-1 in the first game of their three-match series encounter on Friday, July 13 at AT&T Park, San Francisco.
Giants’ from start of the game did well and earned a great victory in the end. They looked sharp and confident in the field.
San Francisco’s manager Bruce Bocky said, "I thought it was important for us to get back on track and play good ball, You've got to bounce back in this game, and that's what this club did today after a tough road trip."
From their batting lineup to starting rotation, everyone played as one unit and kept their opponents under pressure throughout the game.
San Francisco took early lead of two runs in the very first inning and further strengthened it to four in the bottom second.
The Houston batters were only able to score a single run in the seventh which was simply not enough for saving the game.
To restrict the Astros on a single run was the main success of the night for the Giants’ pitchers.
Madison Bumgarner pitched seven innings and received only one run and one earned run. He struck-out five Astros’ batters as his ERA remained consistent at 3.15.
Bumgarner said, "It's nice to get out to an early lead, it takes a little pressure off, You're still trying to go out there and pitch your game and make pitches, but if you mess up here and there, it's still going to be OK."
Wandy Rodriguez on the other hand, could not perform well for the Astros as he was hit with four runs and four earned runs on seven hits in his six innings’ spell.
Overall the game was played at a high pace but the Giants were more determined as they won it in style.
This is also a healthy sign that the Giants have won the first game of the second half of the regular season as it will give them some positive momentum towards post season qualification. It will be interesting to the Giants build up some much needed confidence
and carry their momentum forward.
