San Francisco Giants defeat Arizona Diamondbacks 7-3 – MLB Recap
The San Francisco Giants defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks 7-3 in the third of their three-match regular series encounter on Sunday, May 13 at Chase Field, Phoenix in 2012 Major League Baseball season and win the series 2-1 as well.
Left fielder Melky Cabrera played wonderfully and proved the decisive factor for his team. He ran for important four singles for his team who came out victorious in the end.
Right fielder Gregor Blanco also provided a strong backup to his pitchers scoring some crucial three runs in the match.
“We had some good at-bats there, Guys did a nice job on this trip bouncing back. This has been a tough place for us." San Francisco manager Bruce Bochy said.
Giants' starter Barry Zito on the other hand, also played wonderfully and never allowed any big loop holes to Arizona batters. He finished with five hits along with three runs and five strikeouts.
Zito said on his well balanced outing and his team’s overall performance, "I was kind of in and out today. I got into some jams but was able to pitch out, It wasn't a great day for me as far as stuff goes, but the curveball bailed me out a few times."
Later in the game the Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson stated in the media for his team’s recent performance and how tough this past week was for them. He said, "It was a tough week, a tough homestand. We didn't play well. We got our butts kicked. Not very good execution again, anywhere."
The overall game was played on high pace as the Diamondbacks took the early lead in the second, but as they game approaches into third and fourth innings, the Giants were in total control with three runs’ lead.
Diamondbacks looked good in the bottom fourth and bounced back with two runs and decreased the lead to just one run.
However, the Giants also got the grip in fifth as they scored two more runs and another run in the seventh made it easier for them to take the game away with 7-3 margin.
