San Francisco Giants defeat Los Angeles Dodgers 4-3 – MLB Update
San Francisco Giants defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-3 in the second game of their three-match regular series encounter on Tuesday, October 2 at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.
"Everything kind of comes to a screeching halt, To not have that opportunity to move forward is painful," Dodgers' manager Don Mattingly said about his team’s performance.
Giants’ upfront batting line-up played brilliantly and outclassed the Dodgers with great force. Centre fielder Angel Pagan played well as he scored one run on two hits. He batted four times and maintained his slugging percentage at .441.
"We're not so much into knocking people out, There's a lot of history between these two clubs. Both clubs have knocked each other out," Giants' manager Bruce Bochy said in detail and explained in the media about his team’s overall effort.
First baseman Buster Posey also did well on four at-bats. He scored one run and smashed two hits along with one RBI. He showed great temperament and remained consistent on his established .551 slugging percentage.
Shortstop Joaquin Arias scored two on four at-bats. He also smashed two hits and ran for an important RBI while he maintained his slugging percentage at .392.
Along with batters, the Giants' pitchers also played well and showed their aggressive play. They all did well on the mound and maintained their focus upon Dodgers’ hitters.
Starter Barry Zito pitched six innings and received two runs on six hits. He retired six while he maintained his ERA at 4.15.
Relief pitcher Guillermo Mota pitched 0.2 innings and received one run and three hits. He allowed one homer but overall he played well with his 5.23 ERA.
“There's a lot of intangibles that go into a team firing on all cylinders, Kind of a bitter pill for us to swallow, We really battled to the last out and had a chance. The last week has been fun. It's disappointing we couldn't finish it," Chris Capuano said about his performance.
Chris Capuano pitched three innings and received two runs and five hits. He allowed two home-runs and literally spoiled the game for the Dodgers.
