San Francisco Giants defeat Minnesota Twins 5-1 in 2nd fixture of series – MLB Update

The defending World Series Champions the San Francisco Giants, over-ruled the interleague rivals Minnesota Twins 5-1 in the second outing of the three-game series at their home ground AT&T Park in California on Wednesday, June 22 to tie the series 1-all.
Yesterday in the first outing of the series, the Giants lost to the Twins by a huge 9-2 margin due to some devastating hitting the Twins’ batting line-up made against their starter Madison Bumgarner. He allowed eight devastating runs in the first inning
that sent the Giants into their fifth consecutive loss. The Giants’ manager Bruce Bochy was aware of the fact how important this game is for the Giants to make their name alive as defending champions, so he employed his best starter Ryan Vogelsong.
Vogelsong acted as per the expectations of his manager and allowed only a single run, three hits and one walk over seven innings. However, he made just three strike-outs but it was enough for his fifth win, which improved his record to 5-1 with just 1.73
ERA.
The only run he allowed came in the seventh inning to the Twins’ Tsuyoshi Nishioka.
Until now the Giants had acquired a three runs lead. Eli Whiteside started the game for his club with an RBI double against the Twins’ starter Nick Blackburn, who scattered three runs on four hits in six innings and lost his fifth outing in the 15th
start. Whiteside again contributed in the form of one-run RBI shot against the same starter.
After the Twins nip their scoreless game in the top of the seventh inning, the Giants’ Aubrey Huff scored an RBI single to take his team to a 4-1 lead. Emmanuel Burris made the fifth run in the bottom of the eighth inning and closer Brian Wilson tossed a
perfect ninth inning to take his club into their 40th win of the 2011 season.
Javier Lopez and Sergio Romo did not yielded any run in their less than an inning pitching.
Besides Blackburn, Phil Dumatrait and closer Jim Hoey allowed an RBI each in their spells. Alex Burnett tossed just two pitches before Jose Mijares replaced him up the middle of the seventh inning. Mijares tossed three strikes of eight pitches to complete
this inning.
