San Francisco Giants defeated by Toronto Blue Jays 6-10 – MLB Recap
San Francisco Giants crushed by the Toronto Blue Jays 6-10 in the first game of their two-match regular series encounter on Tuesday, May 14 at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Canada.
The Blue Jays performed wonderfully and won with style. Their pitchers and batters showed true offensive play and rattled the Giants with great force.
Former New York Mets’ R.A. Dickey pitched six solid innings and allowed only two runs on six hits. He struck out ten Blue Jays hitters on consistent 4.83 ERA.
Relief pitcher Brad Lincoln tossed 1.2 innings and allowed four runs on four hits. He struck out three while his ERA remained consistent at 6.52.
Along with good pitching prowess, the Blue Jays batters also played wonderfully and helped their team win an important game against the Giants.
Left fielder Melky Cabrera scored two runs on five at bats. He ran for two RBIs on four hits. His presence certainly showed that the Blue Jays will rattle the 2012 World Series Champions.
“He's been on a nice little roll lately, He can hit; he's always been a good hitter. Early on he struggled, just like everybody else. Now he's starting to feel it a little bit," Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said for Cabrera.
“I left some bats last season and Murph (Mike Murphy, the Giants equipment manager) sent them to me and I was using them today," Cabrera said through a translator.
"It was brief, He was thankful and excited that he got the ring. I thanked him for his contributions, it was pretty simple. I think he was looking forward to getting it and he seemed really excited to get his ring," Giants manager Bruce Bochy.
Right fielder Jose Bautista also contributed with his two runs on three at bats. He remained calm on the plate and maintained his slugging percentage at .547.
On the other hand, the Giants pitchers and batters disappointed badly. They could not create right opportunities during the entire game and lost in the end.
Barry Zito started the game for the Giants and received eight runs on twelve hits. He allowed five earned runs and struck out only two on 3.40 ERA.
