San Francisco Giants edge past Chicago Cubs 7-6 – MLB Recap
The San Francisco Giants edge past the Chicago Cubs 7-6 on Thursday, April 11 at Wrigley Field in Chicago in their four-match clash of 2013 Major League Baseball season.
The Giants entire roster played wonderfully and showed great commitment on Thursday in Chicago’s home field. Their pitchers and batters did very and won the game in the end.
Ryan Vogelsong started the game for the Giants and did a wonderful job on the mound. He pitched six innings and received five runs and eight hits. He struck out five and allowed four earned runs as well but overall his performance remained consistent as
he finished his spell on a high note.
“He was out of sync, even said he was having a hard time getting the ball where he wanted," Bruce Bochy said. "But he got in a good groove there after that one inning and started getting pitches where he wanted and he got in a good rhythm there."
Later Vogelsong said, "I still don't feel all that great after that, I just was trying to throw the ball and hopefully things were going to change, and they did. We started hitting the ball and some people made some really good plays."
Relief pitcher Jeremy Affeldt also played well as he pitched one inning. He allowed one run and two hits on 2.25 ERA.
Giants’ hitters also played very well and hit in right areas. Angel Pagan scored one run on one hit. He also ran for two RBIs and maintained his slugging percentage at .425 on four at bats.
Right fielder Hunter Pence came to bat five times as he scored one run on a single hit. He also looked in great shape and showed his true game.
First baseman Brandon Belt also did a good job with the bat as he scored one run on one hit. He maintained his slugging percentage at .219.
On the other hand, the Cubs entire roster looked shattered in the field. They could not do anything to stop the Giants hammering.
Cubs’ pitchers especially starter Scott Feldman lost the game for them. He allowed six runs and seven hits on his blistering high 6.00 ERA.
