San Francisco Giants edge past San Diego Padres 3-2 – MLB Recap
The San Francisco Giants edge past the San Diego Padres 3-2 in the second game of their three-match regular series encounter on Tuesday, July 24 at AT&T Park in San Francisco.
Playing in their home-field, the Giants came out with sheer confidence and kept their dominance in the entire game.
Their experienced players played well and never gave any chance to the Padres to take control of the game and eventually rattled them with a one run margin.
“It's hard to see a better play in baseball than that, especially with what was on the line,” Giants’ manager Bruce Bochy said with confidence.
Madison Bumgarner was exceptional on the mound with his fast curve balls. He remained on the mound for seven innings and allowed only two runs.
"I was behind a lot. That was probably the least amount of fastball's I've ever thrown in a game, ever. My command was a little off, The defense made some pretty awesome plays. There were a few times when I got lucky and they hit it right toward them," Bumgarner
said on his particular performance.
Seven year veteran in Major League, Padres’ starter Edinson Volquez also gave two runs but these proved disastrous for his team.
Later in the game Volquez said on his performance and explained why his team’s overall play was not well balanced, “I had a better rhythm after the first inning, I really wanted to get ahead in the count, and I think I did that. ... And I stayed in the game."
Not only pitchers, the Giants’ batting also played well and earned a good victory for their team.
Nate Schierholtz and Ryan Theriot added one run each and started a good beginning for their team.
Both played exceptionally well and proved their valour.
The Giants’ manager Bochy was also impressed by his team’s performance.
This particular win was also a great sign for the Giants as they needed this victory to increase their post season qualification chances.
At the moment, the Los Angeles Dodgers are sitting one place behind in the National League West and chasing the Giants with full determination.
