San Francisco Giants edge past San Diego Padres 4-1 – Major League Recap
The San Francisco Giants defeated the San Diego Padres 4-1 on Sunday, April 29 at AT&T Park, San Francisco, California in their 2012 Major League Baseball regular series campaign.
Giants’ talented pitcher Madison Bumgarner played a handy role in his team’s series winning game. He was exceptional to left handed hitters and gave no chance to any of the Padres’ hitters to play him freely.
"It's obvious we think a lot of Madison and what he's done since he got up here, and he's just going to get better and better," Giants' manager Bruce Bochy said for his team. "For a kid his age, it's impressive to see how he throws the ball. I'm not surprised to see what he's done the first month."
Bumgarner played brilliantly striking-out six Padres batters. It was his best performance since coming into this Major League competition. Many critics have stated in the media that Bumgarner should not be included in the starting rotation after he played poorly in last 10 games.
Later Bumgarner said for his and for his team’s game, "I feel good, Like I've been saying, I'm just trying to make pitches. It's been working. The more quality pitches I can throw limits the damage. I don't pay any attention to the previous (start)."
Giants' left-fielder Pablo Sandoval hit a striking homer in the very first innings and gave the right confidence to his team who eventually never allowed the Padres to come near.
Though the Padres scored their only run in fifth innings with the help of Chris Denorfia’s double, but this contribution was still nothing as compared to Giants powerful hitting who went on to win the game in the ninth innings.
Both teams, before this particular series, were quite in good shape, but the side which went with more promising winning percentage is the Giants.
The Giants now have won five regular series’ since start of the 2012 Major League Baseball season. They have won against the Colorado Rockies along with Pittsburgh Pirates, Philadelphia Phillies and New York Mets and now preparing themselves against the Miami Marlins.
