San Francisco Giants grind New York Mets 6-1- MLB Update
San Francisco Giants grinded New York Mets 6-1 at the Citi Field in New York, NY on Monday, April 23 in third game of their four match series of the 2012 Major League Baseball regular season.
The game was originally scheduled to be played on Sunday but heavy rain showers caused delays. Some 1000 supporters at the facility loved what they saw from the Giants.
Tim Lincecum may be having hard time controlling his throws but he earned his first win of the season on Monday. Making the most of available opportunities, the starter set up an easy win for his team. In hitting department of the game, Nate Schierholtz and Buster Posey homered for the Giants.
"Your head's spinning and you're going to 50 different answers trying to get one," he said.
"We get caught up in negatives so easily," he said, "and forget about the positives."
"I can't always expect big results," he said.
Mets’ Miguel Batista struggled to pitch with control and accuracy. The 41 year old tossed just over three innings.
"I missed my location I would say three times, cost me two runs," Batista said. "Posey hit a good pitch, I was surprised. The other guy, it was right down the middle."
The Giants will be very pleased with the way they have bounced in the last two games. New York Mets secured a nail biting thriller in game two to level the series and it seemed they had the winning momentum on their side but the Giants had other ideas.
Showing outstanding fighting skills and temperament, San Francisco made a strong comeback in the third game to take an impassable 2-1 lead in the series. With their win over the Mets on Monday afternoon, they improved their win-loss record to 8-7.
Without a shadow of a doubt, the Giants have given some great performances since the start of the season. Consistency will be the key for them if they want to make it to the post season. The Mets were the favourites to win the series and they will be hoping to put up a better show in the finale to end the series on a respectable note but that has not turned out to be the case.
