San Francisco Giants hammer Colorado Rockies 7-0 – MLB Update
San Francisco Giants hammered Colorado Rockies 7-0 at the Coors Field in Denver, Colorado on Monday, April 9 in their regular season clash of the 2012 Major League Baseball.
The Giants did everything right in a completely one sided contest. Dominating their rivals in almost all aspects of the game, San Francisco Giants gave the Rockies a taste of what they expect to face throughout 2012 season.
Giants’ pitcher Barry Zito made the most of available opportunities to earn his first win of the season. Toying with Colorado’s batting line up, he played a key role in deciding the outcome of the game. Allowing just four hits in his first shutout in almost
nine years, he certainly impressed his skipper.
"I couldn't be happier for Barry," said Giants cleanup hitter Aubrey Huff. "It's no secret he gets buried by the fans, the media and all. To see him go out there and put up a complete-game shutout in Colorado."
"That was just fun to watch," Huff said. "I never wanted to scoop up a ball at the end there for the last out harder in my life for a pitcher. He's been going through some tough times this spring and to come out here and do what he did in Colorado after
an 0-3 start, it's just amazing."
Pablo Sandoval made useful contribution with the bat, hitting a two run home run to take his side to a 7-0 win over the Rockies.
The Rockies, on the other hand, will be very disappointed at losing their home opener. After putting put a decent show during Spring Training Session, the Rockies suffered a humiliating defeat, thanks to a large number of unforced errors they made during
the contest.
The Rockies had made a number of changes in their pitching and hitting lineups during the offseason and they were hoping to give consistent results throughout the season. However, the Rockies were unable to execute their plans on Monday night, which led
to their downfall. Unable to score a single run in front of their home crown, the Rockies will have to reconsider their strategies to win back their fans’ hearts.
