San Francisco Giants hammer Los Angeles Dodgers 3-0 – MLB Update
The San Francisco Giants hammered the Los Angeles Dodgers 3-0 on Tuesday, April 2 at Dodgers home-field at Dodgers Stadium, Los Angeles, California in the second game of their season opening three-match series leveling the series 1-1.
The Giants starter Madison Bumgarner played an exceptional role for his team. He started on the mound for the Giants and pitched eight solid innings and received only two hits and struck six Dodgers top hitters.
“He was really good. He had all four pitches going and really throwing it wherever he wanted to, He was able to throw the fastball in and out, the cutter in and out, mixed some changeups in, and threw few curveballs in some big spots," Giants catcher Buster Posey said of his teammate starting pitcher Bumgarner.
After the game, Bumgarner also said in the media about his performance, "That's probably the best stuff I've had in a long time, which is odd because things don't work out too good in the first start of the year, Really, the first month of the year has usually been kind of tough to get it going. But it feels good to get started on good note."
The Dodgers’ pitching lineup was quite ordinary as they received two many hits from the Giants top order. South Korean sensation Hyun-Jin Ryu was hammered with ten hits as he gave three runs and one earned run in his 6.1 innings. Though he struck out five Giants batters but still could not perform what was expected from him with huge signing money in the 2012 post season.
Along with Ryu, the other Dodgers’ pitchers were also remained unable to perform and could not save the game for their team.
On the other hand, the Giants played as a team and not only their starter, but their closer Sergio Romo was also exceptional on the mound with one strike out.
Upfront hitters including Angel Pagan, Marco Scutaro, Pablo Sandoval and Buster Posey also played a key role in the Giants latest win. Posey with four at bats, hit once and scored one run on his consistent .143 slugging percentage.
