San Francisco Giants humiliated by Atlanta Braves 1-7 – MLB Recap
The San Francisco Giants were humiliated by the Atlanta Braves 1-7 in the fourth and final game of their four-match regular series encounter on Sunday, August 26 at AT&T Park in San Francisco.
Braves’ pitchers played beautifully and earned a great victory for their team.
"I was fighting myself a lot in that first inning to find a rhythm, My rhythm was just off in the first inning. I kind of got it back the next four innings, I was just getting behind batters 2-0 on pretty much everybody wasn't really attacking the zone," Giants' starter Tim Lincecum said on his team’s poor effort.
Tim Hudson did very well on the mound as he pitched seven solid innings and allowed one run on his 3.57 ERA.
He received five hits and struck-out three Giants’ batters.
"He has to move out here, work on that home run swing during the offseason and then come hit in Turner Park, We were fortunate to get a couple of runs early and I was able to throw strikes, You don't exactly see very well from a hitter's point of view," Hudson said on his outing.
His team-mate and relief pitcher Jonny Venters also played aggressively and helped his team win the last game of the series. He pitched one inning and did not allow any run or hit on his 3.22 ERA.
Closing pitcher Cristhian Martinez also supported his fellow pitchers and did not receive any further run on his one inning spell. He struck-out one while his ERA remained consistent at 4.06.
Along with pitchers, the Braves’ hitters also played well and proved too good for the Giants.
Right fielder Jason Heyward scored two runs and smashed two hits along with one RBI on his five at-bats. He played aggressive and maintained his slugging percentage at .509.
First baseman Freddie Freeman scored one run and smashed one hit on his four at-bats as he managed to maintain his slugging percentage at .469.
Shortstop Paul Janish added two RBIs while his slugging percentage of .257 also proved helpful in the Braves win.
