San Francisco Giants humiliated by Cincinnati Reds 1-5 – MLB Recap
The San Francisco Giants lost to Cincinnati Reds 1-5 in the second game of their four-match regular series encounter on Friday, June 29 at AT&T Park in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
The four game series is now level at 1-1 with two games still to be played.
Giants came out confident on their home field, but soon their confidence was overwhelmed by the Reds’ offensive strategy as they opened up a three run gap early in the very first inning. Later as the game progressed, they held their grip tight on the game and eventually won in the end.
The Giants however, did show some resilience when their relief pitcher Clay Hensley come up to pitch but it was too difficult for him to help his team bounce back in the match. The game was already spoiled by his team-mate and starter Matt Cain who finished receiving five runs along with 11 hits.
"First pitch, I was trying to go away and it was middle, It was great. It was a good run and I'm just sad I didn't keep it going, The guys had done a huge job over the against the Dodgers and last night with Bumgarner's performance. I wanted to follow that up, and I didn't do that." Cain said on his particular bad performance.
"Every time he goes out there he has no-hitter stuff and right away we jumped him in the first inning and we chipped on a couple more runs after that, When you can score like this, especially when you're the visiting team," Reds' manager Dusty Baker said.
Mike Leake on the other hand, played tremendously for the Reds and won a comeback win for his team. He remained confident on the mound for the entire game. He received nine hits and only one run as he struck-out four as his ERA remained consistent 4.12.
The Reds, who have lost the first game of the series, showed great courage in Friday’s game. They never demonstrated any of their weaknesses in-front of Giants’ instead kept them under pressure and eventually won the game in comprehensive manner.
