San Francisco Giants humiliated by Los Angeles Dodgers 0-10 – MLB Recap
The San Francisco Giants lost to Los Angeles Dodgers 0-10 in the second game of their three-match regular series encounter on Saturday, July 28 at AT&T Park in San Francisco.
Giants’ entire pitching rotation was hammered with total 10 runs which virtually proved decisive for the Dodgers who also took the series away in style.
Giants’ top performers including some senior players performed poorly during the entire game and could not save the game.
It was Giants’ second straight defeat against the Dodgers in which they gave too many loop-holes and lost in the end with bitter humiliation.
Starter Barry Zito, who is considered one of the top performers in the Giants’ roster, certainly did not play well and could not display his natural fast and curving pitching which proved disastrous for his team as they lost with a huge margin.
Zito allowed four runs and seven hits along with four earned runs. He looked tired on the mound and was hammered with big hits. He was only able to retire four Dodgers' batters on his 3.89 ERA.
“We feel like we're going to have to step it up because we have to step it up. We know we can play better than we have the last couple of days. That's how we like it. It's the Major Leagues, We're excited to come down to the wire and fight it out for the next two months," Zito said later in the game and told the media in detail.
Giants’ remaining two pitchers, relief pitcher George Kontos and closer Brad Penny were also smashed with huge hits and could not hold on to their natural aggressive plays.
George Kontos allowed three runs in his 1.2 innings spell. He also allowed three earned runs along with a homer on three hits as he was only able to strike-out one Dodgers’ hitter in his 2.25 ERA.
Closer Penny also played poorly and lost the game for the Giants. He allowed three runs and three hits while he also gave three earned runs. He was also able to retire only one hitter on his 5.40 ERA.
