San Francisco Giants lose to Houston Astros 3-6 – MLB Recap
The San Francisco Giants lost to Houston Astros 6-3 in the third and final game of their three-match regular series encounter on Thursday, June 14 at AT&T Park in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
Despite losing this third game of the series, the Giants won the series 2-1 as the first two games the series was game won by the Giants.
On Thursday, the Giants again came with big energy but Houston side played more aggressive and won the game in style.
They played as one unit and never allowed any chance to the Giants to dominate the game instead kept them under pressure throughout the game.
Left fielder J.D. Martinez played brilliantly and made four RBIs on his four at bats.
"He was making some mistakes, falling behind hitters and walked three guys, I knew he had to give me something to hit. That was my mindset. I was going to be aggressive and go for it." Martinez said.
Matt Downs and Justin Maxwell also played well with their homer and a single while rest of the Astros’ roster played as backup to their pitching offence.
"We had to bounce back today and we had to get runs early, Altuve set the tone early and got it over with. That pumped all of us up." Downs said with confidence and praised his team who played as one unit.
Later manager Brad Mills said, "He was able to give us a quality start, That two-out home run was a little bit of a hiccup but, it's always nice to get at least one game in the series."
Houston starter Wandy Rodriguez pitched six innings and received six hits and three runs. He allowed three earned runs and struck out three Giants’ batters. He not only pitched well and remained calm on the mound but he also upheld his consistence 3.35 ERA.
On the other hand, the Giants’ starting pitcher Barry Zito had a bad day with his five innings in which he gave five runs and five hits. He also gave five earned runs and only struck out three batters while his ERA grown to 3.61.
