San Francisco Giants lose to Los Angeles Angels 5-12 – MLB Recap
The San Francisco Giants lost to Los Angeles Angels 5-12 in the second game of their three-match regular series encounter on Tuesday, June 19 at Angel Stadium in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
Starter Barry Zito struggled from start of the game and received eight runs and nine hits along with eight earned runs as his ERA rose to 4.35.
"I felt good out there, I was aggressive. I was prepared the right way. So this is one where I just say, these guys are big leaguers. I mean, obviously results are the main deal here, but we can't always go off them every day. So it's basically, was I aggressive?”
Zito said with confidence.
Later Giants’ manager Bruce Bochy said, “He attacked the zone, but got a little too much of it, He struggled from the start with that, just making too many mistakes and got us down there pretty quick. He didn't have his good location, but he was being aggressive
in the zone.”
On the other hand, the Angels’ starter C.J. Wilson played a helping role in his team’s win as he pitched 6.1 innings and received 10 hits along with five runs. He also gave three earned runs maintained his 2.44 ERA.
From start of the game, the Angels gained a four run lead and began a healthy contest.
Though the Giants also made four quick runs but could not match the Angels brilliance which kept them under pressure and never gave any chance at any phase of the game.
Making five runs in the eighth inning, the Giants just could not play the offensive game further and lost in the end with bitter humiliation.
With this win, the Angels also levelled the series 1-1 while the decisive game will be played on Wednesday, June 20.
In the meanwhile, the Angels are also feeling comfortable in the American League West Division with 38-32 win loss along with .543 winning percentage.
The Giants however, now need to work hard to achieve .600 winning percentage which is very important for them to qualify for the post season.
