San Francisco Giants lose to New York Mets 7-8 – MLB Recap
The San Francisco Giants lost to the New York Mets 7-8 in the first game of their four-match regular series encounter on Monday, July 30 at AT&T Park in San Francisco.
Giants’ starting rotation was hammered with hits and could not save the game for the team.
From their starting line-up to closing pitchers, everyone looked tired on the mound and allowed too many loop-holes which proved disastrous in the end.
It was Giants fifth straight defeat in which their entire pitching prowess failed to compose itself and lost in the end.
“Believe me, he's looked at everything, talked to every club, not just about hitters, We've been pretty good in the bullpen, especially two guys who had a rough night tonight. But anytime somebody is out there who's going to make you better, you're going to do it. It makes sense, just like a position player," manager Bruce Bochy said.
Veteran starter Madison Bumgarner started the game for the Giants and allowed two runs, six hits, two earned runs on 3.09 ERA. He pitched six innings and struck-out nine Mets’ hitters.
Relief pitcher Sergio Romo could have played better but he too looked tired on the mound and received some heavy blows.
He received four runs and four hits along with four earned runs on his increasing 5.02 ERA.
“When I don't execute, that's what happens, It's the big leagues. You can't expect anything else. It's been a great ride. I'm still on a good ride. You have to come back and work hard. Keep pushing forward. The team needs me to be good," Romo said.
He was also hammered with a homer which showed his poor curving pitches.
Closer Santiago Casilla pitched his 0.1 inning spell and was hammered with two runs, two hits and two earned runs along with a homer on his 3.49 ERA.
The Mets’ on the other hand, played combined and with complete precision which was also one of the winning factors of their team.
Not only their starters but their hitters also did well and won the game for the Mets.
