San Francisco Giants outclass Los Angeles Dodgers 3-0 – MLB Recap
The San Francisco Giants outclassed the Los Angeles Dodgers 3-0 in the third and final game of their three-match regular series encounter on Wednesday, June 27 at AT&T Park in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
Giants played as one unit and never allowed any big loop-holes which could have given advantage to their opponents. Instead they kept them under pressure throughout the game and eventually won in the end with ease.
This was the Dodgers fourth consecutive defeat and third straight to the Giants.
With this win, the Giants who have won the series as well now sit quite comfortable at top position in the National League West Division while they also know their soaring chances of getting into the post-season.
In Wednesday’s game, the Giants’ pitchers were certainly unplayable and never allowed the Dodgers' batters to score freely.
Tim Lincecum pitched seven innings and received four hits with no run. He retired eight batters as his ERA remained at 5.60.
"I was like, 'Winning,' and he goes, 'It's a lot better than losing,'" Lincecum said. "That's the easiest way to put it. ... To be able to sweep the Dodgers, throw three shutouts and be in the position we're in says a lot about us."
"It's funny how the ugly thing kind of worked out to a pretty cool thing," Lincecum added. "I didn't want him to get a run. I'm not much to go through but he was going to have to go through me to get to the plate."
Chad Billingsley however, played poorly for the Dodgers. He pitched six innings and received nine hits and three runs. He also received three earned runs as his ERA rose to 4.18 which proved disastrous for the Dodgers as they lost with a three-run deficit.
The mid season break is approaching fast, but the Dodgers consistency issues are still not solved. Though at the moment they are at second position in the American League West, but with the poor winning percentage of .560, they cannot go forward into the post season while in order to qualify for the playoffs they need to improve their winning percentage to a minimum .600.
