San Francisco Giants outdo San Diego Padres 7-1 – MLB Recap
The San Francisco Giants defeated the San Diego Padres 7-1 in the first game of their three-match regular series encounter on Monday, July 23 at AT&T Park in San Francisco.
Giants played well and earned a decent victory against the Padres. Giants’ entire roster played as one unit and kept the Padres under pressure during the entire game.
They not only played better baseball but they also showed the Padres why they are superior side and why they will progress into the post season with ease.
"It's hard to put a value on what he means to this club, We saw what life was like without him last year but he's done an unbelievable job here the past few weeks finding ways to get the runs in," San Francisco manager Bruce Bochy said.
On the other hand, the Padres who could have played better, performed real poor and lost in the end.
Their top performers failed to perform and could not save the game.
Starting pitcher Clayton Richard allowed seven runs and nine hits. He was also hammered with seven earned runs in his five innings’ spell while his ERA also rose to 4.17.
"In a nutshell, when they convened three of four had the ball short-hopped, thought he saw it the other way but they talked it over and made the change," San Diego manager Bud Black said.
Giants’ starter Ryan Vogelsong played well and proved one of the winning factors for his team. He never looked tired despite consistently starting games for his team in the second half. He tossed seven solid innings and allowed only one run and one earned run on four hits. He also struck-out six as his ERA remained consistent at 2.26.
Along with Vogelsong, the Giants' catcher Buster Posey also played well and supported his team with his extraordinary batting skills.
"There were a few weird things, We've had some strange ones lately. We were fortunate to come out on top," said Posey.
He scored two runs on three hits while he also added four RBIs on his four at bats which proved fruitful for the Giants as they ousted the Padres with style.
