San Francisco Giants overpower Colorado Rockies 8-3 – MLB Recap
The San Francisco Giants overpowered the Colorado Rockies 8-3 in the third and final game of their three-match regular series encounter on Sunday, August 5 at Coors Field in Denver.
Giants played beautifully from start of the game and earned a great victory in the end.
Their entire roster played a destructive game and never gave any chance to their opponents to take control at any point of play.
On the other hand, the Rockies played defensively throughout the game and eventually lost with bitter disgrace. They did not showed any fighting spirit and gave enough chances to the Giants’ upfront offence to take control of the game.
Colorado manager Jim Tracy commented on his team’s performance, "I personally feel that we were one swing away from having him out of the game in the first inning, there were opportunities for us offensively, there were baserunners out there.”
Especially Rockies’ starter Tyler Chatwood did not play well and allowed three runs and two hits while he also gave one earned in his 3.1 innings. His pitching was quite way-ward and his ERA rose to 6.61.
"The first inning, I just was not in the zone very much at all, The second inning [started with] those two hits, and after that I thought I came back and got in the zone a little better and got out of that. And then the fourth inning, again I was too erratic in the zone and it drove my pitch count up to the 75-pitch limit," Chatwood said.
Relief pitcher Carlos Torres also allowed three hits and one earned and one run total in his 2.2 innings on 3.57 ERA.
Rockies’ closer Matt Belisle certainly damaged his team’s winning chances. He allowed four hits and three crucial runs along with three earned runs.
Giants’ starter Tim Lincecum however, pitched with big energy and won an excellent victory.
He pitched six innings and allowed one run and one earned run as he struck-out three on his 5.43.
Along with their starter, Giants' relief pitchers also played well and contributed a great deal in their team’s win.
