The 33-year-old was a key member of San Francisco Giants’ 2012 Major League Baseball World Series winner.
“He did such a tremendous job down the stretch, He'd been kinda struggling with some little injuries throughout the season. It was kinda odd, it seemed like him getting oddly hurt in Cincinnati kind of benefitted him a little bit. He went out there with unbelievable stuff with the sinker/slider combo.” Matt Cain said for Affeldt in the post-season and explained in detail about his extraordinary performance.
He played an important role for the Giants in this past season finishing 2.70 ERA along with three saves, 57 strike-outs and 1.26 WHIP.
His ten-year career is also a brief account of the extraordinary plays he has been putting into every season and with every team he played.
Starting his career from the Kansas City Royals in 2002, he moved into Colorado Rockies in 2006 while he has also played for the Cincinnati Reds before coming into the San Francisco Giants.
His is considered one of the most consistent players on the mound and has always provided backup to his team-mates and starting pitchers.
His career ERA of 4.01 along with 28 saves 637 strike-outs and 1.42 WHIP also makes him a good player in the league.
Experts believe that this new development is a good sign for Affeldt and Giants. San Francisco with a title in hand are confident while Affeldt with a good consistent performance in the past season also knew his worth and addition to these all facts, both sides ended up with a good deal.
