San Francisco Giants’ second baseman Marco Scutaro expects to start in Game 3 of NLCS – MLB Update
San Francisco Giants' second baseman Marco Scutaro is expected to return in Game 3 of National League Championship Series against the St. Louis Cardinals on Wednesday.
Scutaro was injured with a left hip strain on Monday at AT&T Park in San Francisco. He left the field after five innings of play but now the Giants’ doctors have revealed that Scutaro is alright and can play in the upcoming fixture against the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium in St. Louis on October 17.
Earlier Scutaro commented on his injury and said, "It was a slow roller and all of a sudden I just saw this train coming, I didn't have time to do anything. I don't think you can slide harder that or you'll get the shortstop."
Later, Giants’ manager Bruce Bochy expressed about Scutaro and on his potential next outing as he said, "That's what we're hopeful for, He's more optimistic about where he's at right now than when it first happened."
Bochy added, “He’s more optimistic about where he is than when it first happened, He came out of this pretty good considering how hard he was hit. Marco was behind the bag, (Holliday) really didn’t hit dirt until he got behind the base, and the second baseman."
Scutaro has performed well in both games of National League Championship Series so far.
In Game 1, he scored one run and smashed two hits on his five at-bats while in Game 2, he smashed two hits along with two RBIs on his consistent .500 slugging percentage.
Scutaro is a talented player and the Giants very much need him to start in the important Game 3. The seven-match series between the Cardinals and the Giants is tied 1-1. On other end, in American League Championship Series clash, the Detroit Tigers are leading 3-0 against the New York Yankees.
Meanwhile, coming to Scutaro and his expectations of playing in the coming Game 3 of the NLCS, experts believe that it will tremendously benefit the Giants if he plays and performs the way he used to perform in the recent past, especially in this ongoing Major League Baseball season.
