San Francisco Giants second baseman Marco Scutaro wins NLCS MVP award – MLB Update
San Francisco Giants second baseman Marco Scutaro has won 2012 National League Championship Series Most Valuable Player award for his extraordinary contribution for the San Francisco Giants in their recent encounter with the St. Louis Cardinals.
“I was just like praying, 'Please, you got to catch this ball, It was kind of tough. I was kind of concerned. The flight of the ball, the rain kind of stopped it a little bit. Another minute, I don't think I would have a chance," Scutaro said.
From Game-one to Game-seven of NLCS, Scutaro played with big energy and proved one of the winning factors for the Giants.
"It took him a couple days to adjust to us, but he really has been a leader since he got here, He's played great. He's played great defense. He's a true professional. He does all the little things right. Everything you'd lay out on a table for a guy to do,
he does," said pitcher Ryan Vogelsong for Scutaro.  
Not only in this particular post season series, but his performance has been consistent from the very first day of 2012 Major League Baseball season.
Giants on the other hand, played consistently throughout the regular season and showed great commitment when they qualified for the playoffs.
Scutaro, who has large major league experience, knew that this coming season, his team will be relying on some of the senior players.
On the other hand, as soon as the post season started, Scutaro began his real offensive plays which ultimately were helping the Giants big time.
The Giants reached NLCS after the ousted the Cincinnati Reds while Scutaro also prepared himself against the all important clash with the St, Louis Cardinals.
The Game-one was played at the Giants’ home field in which Scutaro scored one run and smashed two hits on his five at bats while his slugging percentage was also remained consistent at .400.
Later in Game-two to seven, he again performed wonderfully and played with great consistency.
Overall he is now playing at hitting average of .306 along with seven home runs, 74 RBIs and .348.
