San Francisco Giants’ starting pitcher Barry Zito wins Hutch Award – MLB Update

San Francisco Giants' starting pitcher Barry Zito won another honour for his extraordinary pitching during the 2012 Major League Baseball season.
He has won Hutch Award for his surprising and spirited plays in this past season. Zito’s superfluous pitching also led the San Francisco Giants to the World Series.
His performance in the regular and post-season was exceptional and made possible for the Giants to stay on top of their game.
Zito’s real and fabulous progress started after the 2012 All-Star Game in which his performance certainly won the game for the National League.
"You can't get too excited. When we're nice and calm, we always play our best baseball, Our talent is able to come out. But when you start kind of buying into all the hype everything, you lose yourself a little bit, so I was just very adamant on keeping everything slow pretty much from when I got up today," Zito said after his phenomenal performance in the All-Star Game.
Zito added, “You can't go out and try to make things happen, You can't go try to strike guys out or get ground balls. You just have to take every pitch one at a time and give everything you've got to each pitch.”
After putting up a winning show in the all important All-Star Game, the twelve-year Major League veteran started performing with more energy which eventually helped his team to attain the post season goal.
After Giants qualified into the post-season, Zito never stopped with his brilliant run but in the post-season, he showed more courage and slowly but steadily proved his valour which eventually landed the Giants against the Detroit Tigers in World Series finale.
This was the last and ultimate seven-match series for Zito to move forward as World Series winner. As the series started, he again showed his extraordinary plays and certainly won the title for his team.
He finished 2012 MLB season with 4.15 ERA along with 15-8 win-loss, 114 strike-outs and 1.39 WHIP. While his career ERA of 3.93 along with 160-132 win-loss, 1797 strike-outs and 1.31 WHIP also makes a good role player in the field.
