San Francisco Giants suffer another setback losing to St. Louis Cardinals 3-8 in Game 4 of NLCS

San Francisco Giants lost to the St. Louis Cardinals 3-8 in Game 4 of their seven-match National League Championship Series on Thursday, October 18 at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, Missouri.
Giants are now down 1-3 against the Cardinals who once again are moving towards another World Series title getting into the post-season as Wild Card qualifiers.
On other end, the Yankees are out with a humilating series sweep by the Detroit Tigers.
Giants’ entered Cardinals' home field under pressure and could not get the right momentum during the entire game which eventually proved unfortunate as they lost by a big margin.
"The thing is, you just have to simplify it. Just go out there enjoy the moment, We worked hard to get here. We played really well to get here. That's how I'm going to look at it. Our backs are against the wall,” right fielder Hunter Pence said on his team’s performance.
He added, “It definitely has a different feel when you have your back against the wall, but try to have it bring out the best. ... The way I look at it is, Zito's been tremendous for us. We have to find a way to win tomorrow. If we go home to Vogelsong and Cain, we're feeling pretty confident."
Their experienced players did not show any fighting spirit and were rattled by the Tigers' talented roster.
Giants’ pitchers played poorly and were hammered with big hits by the Cardinals' upfront batters.
Tim Lincecum started the game for the Giants as he tossed 4.2 innings and received four runs and six hits. He struck-out three while his ERA rose to 5.40.
Along with Lincecum, relief pitcher George Kontos was also hammered with two runs and two hits on his blistering 13.50 ERA.
Closer Guillermo Mota pitched 0.2 innings and allowed two runs and two hits on his 27.00 ERA. He struck-out one while he also could not save the game for his team.
Meanwhile, with this loss, now the Giants cannot afford to lose again as it will oust them from the National League Championship Series as well as from World Series contention.
