San Francisco Giants thrash Arizona Diamondbacks 7-3 – MLB Recap
San Francisco Giants thrashed the Arizona Diamondbacks 7-3 in the third and final game of their three-match regular series encounter on Thursday, September 27 at AT&T Park in San Francisco.
"We haven't played well enough, that's why we're in the position we're in," Arizona manager Kirk Gibson said.
Giants’ entire roster played aggressively and rattled the Diamondbacks with a four-run advantage.
Second baseman Marco Scutaro scored one run and smashed one hit along with two RBIs. He played intelligently and kept the Diamondbacks’ pitchers under pressure.
First baseman Buster Posey added one run and smashed two hits as he also maintained his slugging percentage at .539.
Right fielder Hunter Pence scored one run and smashed one hit along with two hits on his four at-bats. He played aggressively on his four outings and maintained his slugging percentage at .424.
First baseman Brandon Belt scored one run and smashed two hits on his consistent .430 slugging percentage.
Catcher Hector Sanchez also did well on the plate as he scored two runs and smashed two hits along with two RBIs. He batted well and maintained his slugging percentage of .383 on his four outings on the plate.
Along with batters, the Giants’ pitchers also played really well and earned a great victory in the end.
Barry Zito pitched six innings and received three runs on six hits. He pitched in the right areas and struck out three on his 4.19 ERA.
“I'll just keep going out there and doing my best, and good things will happen, When Melky was suspended, that was a huge blow to everyone, everyone in San Francisco, and certainly everyone in this clubhouse, We knew that we were going to have to pick it up,” Zito said.
"He's done a great job and had a really nice year, He's had a really nice year. He's pitched big games for us and is getting wins when we really needed them so many times," team manager Bruce Bochy said of Zito.
His performance alone stood tall against the Diamondbacks’ entire batting line-up as he did not allow them to play freely.
