San Francisco Giants trounce St. Louis Cardinals 15-0 – MLB Recap
The San Francisco Giants trounced the St. Louis Cardinals 15-0 in the third game of their four-match regular series encounter on Wednesday, August 8 at Busch Stadium in St. Louis.
Giants’ showed their class and hammered last year’s World Series winners with huge force.
The Giants were so dominant on Wednesday night that they did not allow their opponents to score even a single run in the entire nine innings.
"We don't have a lot of games like this," Giants' manager Bruce Bochy said. "It was great to see these guys break out while we got the kind of pitching we got."
They whole roster played combined and pushed the Cardinals towards a humiliating defeat.
Hitters and pitchers played tremendously and earned a great victory for the Giants.
Ryan Vogelsong started for the Giants and finished his seven innings spell with ease. He did not allow any run and was still able to strike-out three Cardinals batters on his 2.27 ERA.
"I'm just going out there and trying to get outs, trying to go as deep as I can in the game, I felt like we had a really good game plan. I was able to execute and make the pitches I wanted to make most of the night. A few mistakes I made here and there, I got lucky. They either fouled them off or took them," Vogelsong said.
On the other hand, the Cardinals did not play their natural game and lost in the end.
Cardinals’ pitchers were hammered by the Giants’ upfront batting line-up as they never gave them any chance to settle in the game.
Experienced Joe Kelly started for the Cardinals on the mound, but as soon as he started his spell, the Giants’ hitters started hammering heavy hits on his waivered pitches on which he gave some crucial seven runs and nine hits along with four earned runs on his 3.47 ERA.
Later his team-mate and closing pitcher Brian Fuentes also was hammered with big hits and could not save the game for the Cardinals. He pitched one inning and allowed four runs, three hits and four earned runs on his blistering 9.00 ERA.
