San Francisco Giants unable to manage a single run lose to Pittsburgh Pirates 2-0 - Part 2
The San Francisco Giants were unable to score a single run against the Pittsburgh Pirates. James McDonalds was the star of the game as he pitched six almost flawless innings which is a far cry from his previous disappointing performances.
"The best way to knock down an ERA is to put up zeros and that's exactly what James did," Pittsburgh manager Clint Hurdle said. "He did a great job."
Madison Bumgarner hadn’t been performing up to the mark lately, but just like McDonald, he improved considerably in this game but that wasn’t enough as James walked away with the win. "I felt smoother and worked out of some jams," he said. "I really was
taking it one inning at a time instead of looking at the whole ballgame at once."
Neil Walker and Steve Pearce had two hits each for their time and Snyder and Jose Tabata each singled.
Walker had the game’s first run as he singled off in the second inning. He then moved to third base when Pearce doubled and scored towards centre-field. Tabata hit a two out single against Guillermo Mota in the seventh innings and Brandon Wood who had previously
singled made the score 2-0.
The Giants poor performance can be proved by the fact that managed to score only 14 runs in the duration of their last six games. They hit at .188 with a single home-run at the rate that they’re going it almost seems that they would be giving the Philadelphia
Phillies a run for their money in the low scoring department. At least the Phillies have an impeccable and almost flawless pitching line-up to talk about. The Giants on the other hand, not so much.
The Phillies put in a good performance to overpower the Giants offence and take a much needed victory. The team has been struggling, but this victory will boost the team morale and bring some winning momentum into their side. The Giants are very inconsistent
over the past few weeks, as they perform well on one day and poorly the next. This inconsistency is hurting the team and they will be looking to make some changes to bring about some success in their offence.
Philadelphia will be looking to continue their winning ways against some of the top teams in the League. Their pitching line-up is tremendous and the entire offence is now starting to come together and provide valuable runs support to the team. The Giants
fought hard, but it just was not enough to contain the Phillies’ offence from scoring. Only time will tell if they can start winning again.
