San Francisco Giants upbeat after leveling series against St. Louis Cardinals – MLB Update
San Francisco Giants are looking confident ahead of their Game 3 clash with the St. Louis Cardinals after leveling the National League Championship Series 1-1.
Giants defeated Cardinals 1-7 on Monday, October 15 at AT&T Park in San Francisco and leveled the series with big energy.
Now their confidence is high and they are hoping for a good outing in the Cards' home field at Busch Stadium in St. Louis.
"Hopefully that gives us some confidence, but I'd love to go to St. Louis and win the next three and not play here until the next round," Giants’ catcher Buster Posey said as he explained about his team’s next potential meeting with the Cardinals.
Later manager Bruce Bochy commented on his team’s chances in the next game said, “We're hoping for the best, I really think they got away with an illegal slide there, He really didn't hit the dirt until he was past the bag. That rule was changed a while back. Marco was behind the bag and got smoked. It's a shame somebody got hurt because of this. He got hit pretty good, and that's a big guy running."
For the Giants, Monday’s victory was much needed as they had lost the first game of the series. Coming into Game 2, the entire Giants’ roster played together and earned a great victory in the end.
They played as one unit and hammered the Cardinals with a six run margin. From their pitchers to starting batting line-up, Giants did well in the field and showed great temperament during the entire match.
Centre fielder Angel Pagan played a critical role in the Giants' win. He scored two runs and smashed two hits along with one RBI on his .667 slugging percentage.
First baseman Brandon Belt and shortstop Brandon Crawford scored one run a piece while left fielder Gregor Blanco added two important runs in the Giants’ win.
Along with batters, the Giants' starter Ryan Vogelsong pitched tremendously and earned a great victory for his team.
He pitched seven innings and received only one run and four hits. Striking-out four, he remained consistent on his 1.29 ERA.
